Oil Barons Acquire Defenseman Kaiden Ellertson

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons have acquired defenseman Kaiden Ellertson from the Blackfalds Bulldogs in exchange for Brandon Sacchetti.

Ellertson, originally from Red Deer, spent last season with Blackfalds where he produced 10 points (4 goals and 6 assists) in 47 games. The 2004 born defenseman is committed to Division 1 program Nebraska-Omaha of the NCAA.

“We are very happy to acquire Kaiden in this deal. He is a Nebraska-Omaha D1 committed guy and provides us with more depth and more stability on our blue line.   He is an elite skater that is today’s type of defenseman. A two-way guy that can be good on both sides of the puck. He can activate into the rush, he’s got a great shot from the point, gets across the line well and brings deception to his game when he has the puck on his stick. Along with the offensive side, he has a good stick, can play physical and be tough to play against.” – Head Coach and General Manager Adam Manah.

Brandon Sacchetti played 1 season with the MOB where he produced 33 points (17 goals and 16 assists) in 48 games.

The Oil Barons would like to thank Brandon for his contributions to the organization and the community and wish him good luck moving forward with Blackfalds.

The Oil Barons would also like to welcome Kaiden to Fort McMurray.
