Fort McMurray, Alta. (Nov. 19, 2015) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have traded the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) rights of 1995-born goaltender Zach Fortin (St. Jerome, QC) to the Woodstock Slammers of the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) for future considerations.

Fortin appeared in 42 games with the Oil Barons last season, where he registered a 20-16-4 record, 2.71 GAA and .924 save percentage. In 14 games with the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) this season, Fortin registered an 8-4-0 record, 3.66 GAA and .878 save percentage. Fortin was released by the Wildcats on November 10.

“We looked at a number of trade options to find the best fit for Zach and our team,” said Head Coach and General Manager Tom Keca. “In the end, were able to agree on a trade that works for us and gives Zach the opportunity to play his last year of junior closer to home.”

The Oil Barons thank Zach for his contributions last season and wish him the best in the future.
