MOB sign Pannu

Fort McMurray, AB (July 21, 2016) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are pleased to announce the signing of 1999-born defenceman Jayden Pannu (Edmonton, AB).

Pannu, 17, played for the South Side Athletic Club (SSAC) Midget AAA team last season, earning 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in 32 games. Pannu also served as an affiliate with the MOB last season, recording one goal in five regular season games.

“Last year, we had an opportunity to affilailte Jayden in a few games and watch his game progress with the South Side Athletics in Edmonton,” said Head Coach and General Manager Tom Keca.

“Jayden provides a steady presence on the blue line and the ability to play in a number of game situations. As a coaching staff and organization, we always strive to recruit great players, but also tremendous kids off the ice. Jayden will be a welcomed addition to our hockey club this season.”

Pannu becomes the third player to commit to the MOB for the 2016/17 AJHL season. Last month, the MOB announced the signing of 1998-born forwards Liam Izyk (Blackie, AB) and Nicholas Leeseberg (Parker, CO).
