MOB acquire Ursulak and Conley from Bandits, in three-team trade

Fort McMurray, Alta. (Nov. 30, 2015) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have acquired 1997-born forwards Hayden Ursulak (Calgary, Alta.) and Will Conley (Strathmore, Alta.) from the Brooks Bandits, as part of a three-team trade also involving the Olds Grizzlys.

In return, the Oil Barons have traded 1996-born forward Austin Holmes (Calgary, Alta.) and future considerations to the Grizzlys for 1997-born defenceman Tristan Thompson (Canmore, Alta.) and future considerations. To complete the three-team trade, the Oil Barons have sent Thompson and 1996-born forward Landon Welykholowa (Calgary, Alta.) to the Bandits for Ursulak, Conley, and future considerations.

In 24 games with the Bandits this season, Ursulak has recorded 13 points (five goals, eight assists) and 29 penalty minutes, while Conley has recorded nine points (four goals, five assists) and 20 penalty minutes in 19 games.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to acquire Hayden and Will and welcome them to Fort McMurray,” said Head Coach and General Manager Tom Keca. “As ’97 forwards, both players possess a tremendous amount of speed and skill, which they’ve shown through the first half of the season in Brooks. We’re confident that both players are going to have a positive impact in our lineup.”

In 29 games with the Oil Barons this season, Holmes has registered 13 points (eight goals, five assists) and 10 penalty minutes, while Welykholowa has recorded 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) and 44 penalty minutes in 27 games.

“As a coach, it’s always tough to trade a player. Austin and Landon have been tremendous advocates for our organization both on and off the ice. We’d like to thank them for their hard work and contributions over the past two seasons. We wish them the best with their new teams,” said Keca.
