Fort McMurray, AB (March 1, 2018) – Oil Barons captain Shane Fraser is the winner of the Don McNabb Memorial Trophy, as the AJHL's Most Dedicated Player for 2017/18.
Fraser, 20, is currently in his 3rd and final season with the Oil Barons, leading the team to a second-place regular season finish in the AJHL North Division. Appearing in all but 1 game this season, the veteran forward has collected 51 points (20 goals, 31 assists), ranking him 4th in team scoring.
Fraser also has 13 multi-point games on the season (including 2 hat tricks) and has been recognized as the AJHL's star of the game 5 times.
“Shane is such an outstanding kid,” said Oil Barons Head Coach and General Manager Tom Keca. “He persevered through a tough season with the team in his rookie year, and it has been so rewarding to watch him develop into a leader. He is the poster-boy for our organization and what a coach wants every Oil Baron to aspire to be. He is one of the nicest and most dedicated people I've ever met.”
