Fort McMurray, AB — June 10, 2025 — The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are proud to announce the signing of forward Cash Brebant for the 2025–26 Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) season.
A native of Fort McMurray, Brebant returns home to join the Oil Barons after spending the past two seasons with OHA Edmonton in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL). He is also a prospect of the Portland Winterhawks in the Western Hockey League (WHL), having been selected in the fifth round (159th overall) of the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.
“We’re thrilled to announce the signing of Cash Brebant to the Fort McMurray Oil Barons,” said Head Coach and Interim General Manager Sam Klassen. “Cash is an intelligent, smooth-skating forward with a natural ability to find open ice offensively. Beyond his offensive instincts, he brings a high level of energy and competitiveness that will make an immediate impact on our lineup. We’re proud that Cash has chosen the Oil Barons as the next step in his development as he pursues his goal of making the Western Hockey League.”
Brebant produced an impressive 57 points (23 goals, 34 assists) in 36 games with OHA Edmonton’s U17 Prep squad last season. He added 5 points (3 goals, 2 assists) in 4 playoff appearances.
Cash’s signing carries added meaning for the organization and the city of Fort McMurray. His father, Fred Brebant, is a former Oil Baron who was a part of the first league championship with the team during the 1996-97 season. That legacy now continues with Cash donning the MOB logo.
“To have an opportunity to play for my hometown team along my development path is very special,” said Brebant. “It’s also incredibly meaningful to play for the same organization my dad once played for—and won a league championship with. It brings a sense of pride, and I look forward to making the community proud.”
The Oil Barons are excited to welcome Cash and the entire Brebant family to the organization.
