Fort McMurray, AB — July 5, 2025 — The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are proud to announce the signing of defenseman Ben Morton for the upcoming 2025–26 season.
Morton joins the Oil Barons on the heels of a strong season with the Leduc Oil Kings U18 AAA in the Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL), where he posted 22 points (7 goals, 15 assists) in 35 games.
“Ben is a mobile, puck-moving defenseman who plays with a competitive edge,” said Oil Barons Head Coach Sam Klassen. “His skill set aligns perfectly with the style we want from our defensemen, and with his strong leadership qualities, I’m confident he’ll make an immediate impact on our team.”
The 2007-born Devon, AB native is excited to continue his development with the Oil Barons.
“I am super excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the Oil Barons,” said Morton. “With the amount of talent surrounding me — from the players to the coaching staff and passionate fans — I’m eager to give my all to the team and the MOB community this upcoming season.”
