Fort McMurray Oil Barons and KAOS 91.1 announce broadcast agreement

FORT McMURRAY, AB (August 22, 2014) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons and KAOS 91.1 are pleased to announce that they have entered into a broadcast agreement for the 2014-15 Alberta Junior Hockey League season.

Under the new agreement, KAOS 91.1 will broadcast all 60 regular season Oil Barons games on their FM frequency, as well as all playoff games, and be the exclusive local radio broadcaster for the 2015 Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup, which will be held in Fort McMurray in April and May.

“We are very pleased with the signing of this broadcast agreement with KAOS,” said Oil Barons President Len Clarke. “The Oil Barons are always searching for opportunities to partner with other non-profit groups in our city and this was a great fit for both of us. We are looking forward to a very successful season.”

“We are very excited to partner with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons this season,” said Rick Kirschner, Executive Director of Kings Kids Promotions Outreach Ministries, the owner of KAOS 91.1. “The Barons are an institution in our community and strong community builders. KAOS 91.1 works hard at being a community focused station and this partnership is just another example of that.”

“We would like to thank The Board, Executive and Management of the Oil Barons Club and wish them a great season,” Kirschner added. “See you at the rink!”

Game broadcasts will be available over the air, online at kaos911.com, on mobile devices through the KAOS 91.1 app, as well as on the AJHL’s video pay-per-view system, FASTHOCKEY.

KAOS 91.1 has served the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo since June of 2007; this will be its first season as the exclusive broadcaster for the Fort McMurray Oil Barons.

“We are delighted to be involved in this new chapter with Rick Kirschner, whose family has been a significant part of the fabric of this community for decades,” Clarke added.

The Oil Barons organization would like to thank the management team at KAOS 91.1 for their enthusiastic and energetic approach to developing this new broadcasting arrangement, and is looking forward to a great year of serving Oil Barons fans and the greater Fort McMurray sports community.

Details on the broadcast team for this season are expected to be released early next week.
