Former leading scorer Lalor returns to Oil Barons

FORT McMURRAY, AB (December 7, 2014) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League are happy to announce the return of 1995-born forward Luc Lalor (St. Albert, AB) to the team.

Lalor, 5’10” and 160 lbs, led the Oil Barons in scoring in his rookie season in 2012-13, recording 30 points (8 goals, 22 assists) in 48 games. The following season, Lalor was limited by injury to 8 regular season games, but scored 9 points (4 goals, 5 assists) followed by 3 points in 3 playoff games.

Lalor began this season with the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL), where he scored 3 assists in 13 games. He recently committed to attend and play for Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, in the NCAA’s Division I Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC), where he will join current Oil Barons forward Mitch Vanderlaan (Hanwell, NB) in playing for the Big Red.

“I had spoken to Luc a couple of times, and let him know that he would always have a home here,” said Oil Barons head coach and general manager Curtis Hunt. “He’s excited to come back; his heart is in Fort McMurray, and he’s ready to do everything he can to help make us a championship team.”

The Oil Barons’ next home game is Wednesday, December 10th, when the first-place Spruce Grove Saints come to the Casman Centre for a 7:30 puck drop. Tickets are available at the Casman Centre box office, online at tickets.oilbarons.com, or by phone at (780) 743-5509.
