Danny Akkouche Named 40th Captain in Oil Barons History

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons have announced Danny Akkouche as 40th captain in franchise history.

Akkouche, in his first season with the club, is leading the MOB in scoring with 21 points (8 goals and 13 assists) in 21 games. The 20-year-old from Montreal, QC, has shown himself to be a strong leader on and off the ice through the first three months of the season and has become a strong role model with his work ethic and ability to push his teammates.

Akkouche follows a storied list of captains in Oil Barons history including first ever Captain Max Bell (81-82), Carson Cooper (11-12), Shane Fraser (17-18) and locals Chris Lafreniere (91-92), Sean McFatridge (93-94), Rob Staudinger (99-00), Nick Roberts (01-02), Brad Stebner (09-10), Brandon Ralph (16-17) and Max McCoy (22-23).
