Curr named AJHL’s Defensive Player of the Week

Fort McMurray, AB (January 8, 2018) – Fort McMurray Oil Barons goaltender Chris Curr (St. Albert, AB) has been named the AJHL's Defensive Player of the Week for December 30-January 7. 

Curr, 19, registered three wins against North Division teams to open 2018, where he stopped 90 of 95 shots and posted a 1.67 goals against average. Curr's impressive start to 2018 was capped off on January 5, where he recieved the game star award in a 5-1 win over the Sherwood Park Crusaders.

On the season, Curr is 11-1-2 with a 1.94 goals against average and .939 save percentage. He also owns one shutout on the season – his first in the AJHL. 

Curr's accomplishment marks the second time this season that an Oil Baron has received player of the week honours. Will Conley was named the AJHL's Player of the Week for October 9-15.
