Coach’s Blog – Weekend Split with Whitecourt

The Barons split a weekend series with the Whitecourt Wolverines to maintain 5th position in the tight North Division. The team is 4 points out of 1st place but with six teams within 6 points of each other every result seems to juggle the standings.

The MOB won 3-1 Saturday as Tanner Jaillet stopped 31 shots for the win. Scott Pooley (11th), Sam House (3rd) and Taylor Graham (5th) all scored in the victory. The Barons were outshot 32-29 but led in scoring chances 15-14. Matt Purmal picked up 7 minutes in penalties to be the first Baron to 100 minutes on the season.

The Wolverines turned the tables Sunday with a 3-2 victory. Tanner Jaillet was once again sharp stopping 29 shots but the Barons could not finish enough offensive chances to win the game. Erik Pedersen (6th) and Jetlan Houcher (7th) scored for the MOB. The shots favoured Whitecourt 32-27 and both teams had 11 scoring chances. Alex Cromwell led the Barons with 7 hits on the night and now has 132 on the year.
