Coach’s Blog – Heading to Game 5

The Barons forced a Game 5 showdown in Whitecourt with a remarkable 5-4 overtime victory in Game 4 at the Casman Centre Saturday.

The Wolverines took a 2-1 series lead with a 3-1 victory over a very tight Barons squad Friday. Kevin Miller scored the only Barons goal as both teams had 34 shots and 17 scoring chances on the night.

Facing elimination in Game 4 the MOB once again started slow and eventually fell behind the Wolverines 4-2 with 7 minutes to play in the game. Scott Pooley cut the deficit to 4-3 with a powerplay marker and the comeback was on. The Barons hemmed Whitecourt in their zone in the final 2 minutes before Scott Pooley buried a slap shot with 6 seconds left in the game. It took all of 41 seconds of overtime for Scott to score a natural hat trick off an Adam Durkee face-off win and the comeback was complete.

The Barons led in shots 31-22 and had a 15-13 edge in scoring chances. Kevin Miller and Parker Evans-Campbell also scored for the Barons.
