Coach’s Blog – Barons Sweep Spruce Grove

The Barons completed an opening weekend sweep defeating Spruce Grove 3-2 Friday and 4-0 Saturday at the Casman Center.

The MOB fought back froma 2-0 deficit Friday with a strong 3rd period for the win. Tanner Jaillet stopped 31 shots for the win. Mitchell Byrne (1st), Alex Cromwell (1st) and Ryan Bloom (1st) scored for the Barons. The shots were 31-30 for the MOB and the scoring chances were 18-12 for the home side. Alex Cromwell had 1 goal and 1 assist along with 6 hits in the contest.

Saturday saw Tanner Jaillet stop 18 shots for his 5th career shut-out as the Barons won 4-0. Zach Wittenburg (1st), Scott Pooley (1st), Kevin Miller (1st) and Kaiden Tobin (1st) scored for the MOB. Brennan Saulnier had 2 assits on the night as the Barons held a 25-18 edge in shots and a 13-9 edge in scoring chances.
