Coach’s Blog – Barons Road Warriors

The Barons completed a perfect 3-0 road trip extending their season opening win streak to 5 games.

Friday the MOB defeated Camrose 4-1 behind goals from Kevin Miller (2nd), Mitchell Byrne (2nd/3rd) and Brennan Saulnier (1st). Tanner Jaillet was solid in winning his 3rd game of the season. Mitchell Byrne had 2 goals and 1 assist including his 1st game winning goal. Linemates Mitch Vanderlaan and Danton Ayotte each added 2 assists on the night. Final shots were 25-24 for Camrose and scoring chances were 13-8 for the Barons.

Saturday the Barons defeated Drayton Valley 5-1 as Goalie Jesse Gordichuk earned his first AJHL victory stopping 26 shots. The Barons held a 41-27 shot advantage and a 21-9 edge in scoring chances. Adam Durkee had 2 goals (1st/2nd) with singles to Kevin Miller (3rd), Alex Cromwell (2nd) and Jetlan Houcher (1st). Houcher, Ryan Bloom and Austin Yadlowski also added 2 assists each.

Sunday the Barons fell behind 2-0 before storming back to take a 5-3 win in Whitecourt. The Shots were 24-23 for Whitecourt and the scoring chances were 14-12 for the MOB. Tanner Jaillet garnered his 4th win of the young season. Adam Durkee had 2 goals (3rd/4th) and 1 assist while Ryan Bloom (2nd), Zach Wittenburg (2nd) and Scott Pooley (2nd) has singles. Hayden Dawes had 3 assists and Jetlan Houcher added 2 assists.

Louis -Joseph Sawyer led the team with 13 hits on the road trip. Jetlan Houcher had 11 shots on net while Mitch Vanderlaan and Adam Durkee each had 9. Houcher and Vanderlaan also led in scoring chances with 7 each.
