Coach’s Blog – Barons 1-1 Heading Home

The Barons were able to split the first 2 games of their play off series with Whitecourt and head home for games Friday and Saturday at the Casman Centre.

The Barons dropped Game 1 Monday in Whitecourt 4-2. The MOB looked very tight and fell behind 2-0 in the first period before bouncing back with 2 powerplay goals in the second period by Hayden Dawes. Whitecourt scored with 5 minutes gone in the 3rd period and held on for the win. The shots favoured Whitecourt 31-25 and they led in scoring chances 12-8. Tanner Jaillet was solid in the loss.

The MOB scored a gutsy 2-1 win Tuesday to even the best of five series at 1-1. The Barons led in shots 36-23 and had a 19-8 advantage in scoring chances. Adam Durkee scored a power play goal and Justin Fraser scored the game winning goal with just over 4 minutes left in the game. Tanner Jaillet was once again solid in posting the victory.

Affilate forward Ethan James (Medicine Hat) played his first AJHL Playoff games and was solid in both games.

Justin Fraser's goal was his first AJHL playoff point in 17 playoff games.
