Coach’s Blog – 5 Point Weekend

The Oilbarons went 2-0-1 collecting 5 points on their last road trip of 2012.

The Barons won 1-0 in a shootout over Drumheller to start the trip on the right foot. Doug Jones scored the only goal of the shootout and Ethan Wood got the shutout stopping 42 shots and all 3 shooters in the shootout.

The MOB led a 4-1 lead slide away in Camrose as they fell 5-4 in overtime. Hayden dawes (3rd), Doug Jones (8th), Adam Durkee (6th) and Parker Evans-Campbell (7th) all scored for the Barons. Camrose had 9 power plays including 5 straight over the last 25 minutes of the game.

The Barons won 2-1 in overtime in Spruce Grove to end the road trip. Despite being outshot 38-18 the Barons backstopped by Tanner Jaillet found a way to gain 2 points. John Teets (2nd) got credit for the first goal as his dump in was mishandled by the Spruce Grove defence and somehow ended up in the net. Erik Pedersen (4th) was the overtime hero scoring on a great feed from Danny Gayle.

Hayden Dawes now has 3 goals and 5 assists in 8 games with the Oilbarons.

Brock Maschmeyer and Justin Fraser are expected to return to the line-up after the xmas break.
