Charles-Olivier Villeneuve Commits to Concordia University

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are proud to announce that forward Charles-Olivier Villeneuve has committed to Concordia University to play for the Stingers. The Concordia Men’s Hockey program is based in Montreal Quebec that competes in U Sports as a member of the Ontario University Athletics Conference.

“Charlo has been a dynamic, offensive threat for us this season and I’m excited to see him get rewarded with this opportunity.” Said Head Coach Sam Klassen. “I have no doubt that he’ll be a solid contributor for the Stinger’s throughout his University career.”

Villeneuve has amassed 31 points (12 goals and 19 assists) in 36 games this season. The 20 year old Saguenay, Quebec product is in his first season with the Oil Barons after spending the previous 3 years in the QMJHL where he played 131 games.

“Charlo has proven to be a reliable offensive player and a key contributor to our team’s success, showcasing exceptional skating ability, relentless determination, and an unwavering drive to make a difference on every shift. His grit and competitiveness set him apart, consistently elevating his performance in high-pressure moments. This season, Charlo’s clutch play has resulted in four game-winning goals, ranking him third in the AJHL in this category—a testament to his skill, resilience, and leadership. We are confident that Charlo will continue to excel as he embarks on his U Sports career with the prestigious Concordia Stingers University program.” – General Manager Joey Bouchard.
