Fort McMurray, AB (February 18, 2021) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are excited to announce that two more players have committed to post secondary schools for the upcoming 2021-22 season.
20-year-old defenceman and team captain Konrad Belcourt (Sherwood Park, AB) will join the Red Deer College Kings of the ACAC next season. In 102 games with the Oil Barons over the past three seasons, the skilled, two-way defenceman has recorded 10 goals and 29 assists.
Prior to joining the Oil Barons, Belcourt spent time in the WHL with the Kelowna Rockets and Prince Albert Raiders.
Fellow defenceman and 20-year-old Max Struss (Spruce Grove, AB) will head west next season and will join the Vancouver Island University Mariners of the BCIHL.
The physical, hard-hitting defenceman with strong leadership qualities will head to Nanaimo, BC after appearing in 94 AJHL games over the past three seasons. In that span, Struss has registered 15 points.
Belcourt and Struss join Brendan Wang (Princeton, NCAA), Michael Hodge (Union College, NCAA), Ty Mosimann (Marian University, NCAA) and Luke Harive (Nichols College, NCAA) as players from the team’s 2020-21 roster to commit to post secondary schools.
