FORT McMURRAY, AB (January 9, 2015) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons have announced further details about Saturday night’s jersey retirement for former Oil Baron and current Florida Panthers forward Scottie Upshall (Fort McMurray, AB).
The team will hold an autograph session featuring Upshall alongside Florida teammate and two-time Stanley Cup champion Shawn Thornton (Oshawa, ON) in the Casman Centre lobby beginning at 7:15 PM, and lasting until 7:45 PM. The Fort McMurray community is invited to bring their own memorabilia to have signed, although 8×10 pictures will also be provided free of charge to all fans for signing as well.
The retirement of Upshall’s number 7 will occur after a ceremony beginning at 8 PM on the Casman Centre ice, featuring Upshall, as well as his family members, members of the Oil Barons organization, and current AJHL Vice-President and former Oil Barons coach Fran Gow, who will also be in attendance. A video tribute to Upshall will also feature some of his teammates from the 2000 Royal Bank Cup championship.
