Andrew Ness Commits to Bemidji State University

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are proud to announce goaltender Andrew Ness has committed to NCAA Division 1 program Bemidji State University.

The rookie out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, is in his first season with the Oil Barons where he has amassed a 5-3-0 record in net with one shutout on the season. Ness currently leads all goalies in the AJHL in Save % (.944) and is second in the league in Goals Against Average (2.03).

“We are extremely excited to announce that Andrew has committed to Bemidji State in the CCHA. For Andrew, this is a huge accomplishment so early in his rookie career. He has earned his scholarship by putting up sparkling numbers through his first 8 starts. He leads the league in SV% and is 2nd in GAA to start his 2022-23 campaign. Andrew simply does not like to be scored on in practice. His athleticism, work ethic and compete level are off the chart. This is what makes him so good in games. He practices like he plays. Couple those things with his puck playing ability and he is like an extra defenseman for us back there. Bemidji is getting an outstanding goalie, but a terrific person as well. We are thrilled for Andrew and his family to continue the next chapter of his playing career for the Beavers.” – Head Coach and General Manager Adam Manah.

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons would like to congratulate Andrew and his family on this accomplishment.
